In the everyday life of graphic designers, creativity, new ideas and design innovations are very significant. Nevertheless, it can sometimes happen that designers go back to already tried and tested approaches or designs due to time pressure and other factors. To overcome this, one should take time for playful and experimental design from time to time and explore new design paths. In this Master's thesis, creative play is to be seen as a serious method to challenge and develop oneself graphically. The aim of this thesis is to investigate individual creative methods and to develop new techniques in a self-experiment on the poster, to experiment graphically and to become playful. The central questions “Can one's own creativity be increased through play and experimentation in design, especially on the poster?” and “Which individual creativity techniques do designers use?” are explored within this thesis through literature research, expert interviews and a self-experiment.
